Enterprise AI Gets to Work

From experimentation to practical business value

About Issue 63

About this issue

Enterprise AI Gets to Work explores a shift in enterprise technology: artificial intelligence is moving beyond isolated pilots and into the systems, decisions and workflows that businesses use every day. The question is no longer simply what AI can do, but how organisations can put it to work with reliable data, clear controls and measurable results.

Three Perspectives on Intelligent ERP

In the first of three executive interviews, Ben Hussey, Co-CEO of Katana, discusses how AI is changing inventory management and ERP. He explains why recurring stockouts often point to problems with data and replenishment processes, and why accurate, real-time availability matters as AI shopping assistants begin to influence which products customers discover. The conversation also examines agentic commerce and the move from reactive systems of record to systems that help teams take action.

Chris Hawley, Managing Director for Great Britain at The Noledge Group, looks at the challenge of fragmented business systems. He discusses how connected data across finance, inventory, purchasing and operations can give organisations a clearer view of their business. His interview considers sector-specific requirements, ERP modernisation and the need to combine faster AI-assisted work with governance and financial control.

In the third interview, Shaz Khan, Co-Founder and CEO of Vroozi, turns to the enterprise buying experience. He argues that procurement transformation depends on whether employees can actually use and trust the tools provided to them. The discussion covers intuitive purchasing, SAP clean core, AI-assisted procurement and the decisions that still require human judgement.

From AI Ambition to Governed Action

Two features examine what practical enterprise AI requires. A look at SYSPRO Torque shows how industrial AI can connect manufacturing data and systems to identify operational problems, recommend responses and execute approved workflows with an auditable record of each action. In a separate article, James Harvey, EMEA CTO at Rimini Street, considers the foundations for scaling AI: clean data, efficient processes, appropriate automation, security, governance and a business case tied to results.

The news section follows developments across manufacturing, finance, professional services and the public sector. It includes HARTING’s move to RISE with SAP; the Salesforce and Anthropic partnership; Certinia’s acquisition of Moonnox and expansion of Veda AI; new Sage Intacct financial controls; Unit4’s Canadian public sector agreement with Canoe; and Tempo research on the gap between AI adoption and agents performing meaningful work.

Customer Stories: Measurable Change in Practice

Four customer stories show how organisations are improving their operational foundations and measuring the effects.

Storm Smart brought disconnected applications and paper-heavy processes together with Acumatica Construction Edition. The company reports 50% growth since implementation, a 23% increase in inventory accuracy and a 70% reduction in monthly close time.

Volac reimplemented its core platform with IFS Cloud to simplify its global operations. The programme removed almost 80% of existing customisations and more than 3,350 custom items, while creating a more consistent view across manufacturing, supply chain, finance and HR.

BES Limited replaced a long-standing on-premises ERP environment with Epicor Prophet 21 and Epicor Automation Studio. By connecting warehouse, commerce and financial processes, the distributor gained real-time visibility and reports an approximately 75% reduction in training time.

MotoNovo Finance used Aptean Respond to consolidate complaint and case management into consistent workflows. Its Financial Ombudsman Service referral rate fell from 10% to 2%, while complaints exceeding 56 days and staff attrition also declined substantially.

Across these interviews, reports and customer experiences, Issue 63 presents a practical view of enterprise AI: progress depends on connected information, accountable decisions and improvements that organisations can demonstrate in their everyday work.
